Effective Communication
Effective Communicators are people who are highly respected and trusted. They prioritize building a relationship on a both personal and professional level to create successful communication. At Alpha Marketing we strive by following this. From the top to the bottom of our company our employees and customers are focused on building these relationships to create great communication. Here are five ways our employees practice to be the best possible communicators.

-
They know what they are talking about
-
They listen more than they speak
-
They focus on understanding what people say
-
They pay attention to nonverbal communication
-
They are aware of misunderstandings

Five Types of Communications

-
Verbal Communication
-
Occurs when we engage in speaking with others.
-
It can be face-to-face, over the telephone, via Skype or Zoom, etc.
-
-
Non-Verbal Communication
-
Includes facial expressions, posture, eye contact, hand movements, and touch.
-
-
Written Communication
-
Whether it is an email, a memo, a report, a Facebook post, a Tweet, a contract, etc. all forms of written communication have the same goal to disseminate information in a clear and concise manner
-
Two things to remember: first, write well – poorly constructed sentences and careless errors make you look bad; and second, ensure the content of the message is something you want to promote or be associated with for the long haul.
-
4. Listening
-
The act of listening does not often make its way onto the list of types of communication. Active listening, however, is perhaps one of the most important types of communication because if we cannot listen to the person sitting across from us, we cannot effectively engage with them.
5. Visual Communication
-
We are a visual society. Think about it, televisions are running 24/7, Facebook is visual with memes, videos, images, etc., Instagram is an image-only platform, and advertisers use imagery to sell products and ideas.
-
The images we post on social media are meant to convey meaning to communicate a message

Understanding how to communicate is the first part of becoming an effective communicator. Here at Alpha Marketing we teach our employees the basic definition of communication. From there they can use the definition to apply it to their ways to communicate with coworkers and customers in the best way.

Communication Styles

“Like all of us, your customers want to be understood. But emotionally, what’s
even more important is that they feel you want to understand them and you’re genuinely trying to grasp what they want, need, think, and feel.”
Lee Cockerell
Customer Rules
To be an effective communicator there are a number of barriers that you must overcome. Our agency is global and we need to be able to communicate with clients all over the world. Another challenge when trying to communicate well is cultural differences. Different areas of the world understand different body motions and words differently than in the United States. You must be aware of this to effectively communicate with others in this business. To communicate effectively you must also be a great listener. Communication is a two way street and it's just as important to listen well as it is to speak well. Everyone has a unique way of communicating, it's human nature. You have to be able to adapt to this with each and every one of our clients and employees.
